Anup Karia

Anup knew from early on that his life’s work would be with people and groups. In 1997, almost accidentally, he came across the work of Arnold Mindell and was deeply intrigued and moved by the focus on awareness and perception and a philosophical basis that integrates psychology, modern science and ancient spirituality with a love for artistic expression. Having already trained in integrative humanistic psychotherapy before that, he got ‘hooked’ and trained extensively in the UK and USA.

He has extensive experience in the Worldwork method (the process oriented model for working within groups, organizations and communities).

His work as a facilitator and consultant with organizations and communities has encompassed a diverse range of groups and companies. With Stanya Studentova, he is practicing and developing process oriented models of coaching, leadership, diversity and change applicable in different organizational settings. He has a long term interest in setting up and facilitating community forums to support multicultural societies and conflict resolution.

In 2008 he co-organized and facilitated in the 6 day London Worldwork conference and forum which attracted over 400 participants from round the world.

He is the co-ordinator of studies and a faculty member of RSPOPUK ( the UKCP accredited Process Work school) teaches process work, supervises students in the UK and internationally, runs seminars and has a psychotherapy and consultancy practice in London. He also consults with a number of organizational teams working with individuals and communities in the fields of violence, abuse and trauma.

In the past he has worked extensively in the fields of mental health and trauma and in the NHS managing a psychotherapy team.

In the early nineties he pioneered the first counselling and support service exclusively for Black and Asian gay men in London.

He is a facilitator at heart, devoted to discovering how our deepest direction (as individuals, groups or the collective) can be sensed through awareness of subtle moments of instability, conflicts, symptoms, dreams, chance events, and the subtler flirts and sentient experiences.

Anup was born in Kenya.
